Audio Mastering when done properly allows your music to compete with Industry level loudness and clarity. Having access to affordable Mastering that competes, is imperative to your creative workflow as an Artist. However, it can be a very costly and time consuming process to get right. It only makes sense to outsource this stage of your song, so you can spend more time creating, and getting your music out competitively fast.
That’s great! Even the best Producers and Engineers need referencing or second opinions to finalize their songs. Getting that extra 5 or 10% out of your Master can make or break a track. You won’t truly know if you’re doing your best Mastering or Mixing without getting a Reference Master to compare and contrast against your own. An affordable secondary Master can shine light on minor details in Harmonics/Maximization that you might miss.
Mastering can be done completely in the Digital Realm, but a Hybrid Master combining rack hardware and plugins can emulate a vintage Master sound that you’ll find loud, crisp, and dynamically driven. There’s benefits to bridging both worlds of analog and digital. We respect the classic fundamentals that make Mastering an artform while bringing a futuristic cutting edge approach to Digital Mastering.
Solar Heavy Studios utilizes Furman Power conditioning within a Hardware Rack that removes dirty power, fluctuations, and anomalies that affect sound playback quality. You may not realize the importance of having absolute clean power running into your studio when it comes to Mastering. This is something we have treated from the ground up in studio design.
If you’re wondering will Mastering really make that much of a difference, here are a few visual examples of previous orders. From already Mastered tracks that needed a Re-Master, to single mp3 files, phone recorded versus, podcasts with background noise, or self Mastered tracks sent in to squeeze an extra 15% out of the final Master. The Mastered file is layered on top of the original and colorized to show audio information that has been brought out, made more defined, dynamic, and transient in the below examples.

Select the right Master for your Project, Upload your Audio File links directly through the Order Form, and you will be contacted within 48 hours through email to begin your Master. A Custom Checklist will be created during playback. Removal of Stacked Frequencies, Harmonic Excitement, Transient Preservation, Dithering, and Final Polishing will be applied to every Master.

A treated room is critical for a Professional Audio Master. Solar Heavy Studios resides inside a fully treated brick studio room that utilizes accurate acoustic treatment customized by Auralex. Solar Heavy Studios was built ground up running on clean, artifact-free power. All equipment runs through Furman M-8×2 Power Conditioners. Auralex Acoustic Treatment, Acoustic Ceiling Diffusers, and De-isolators are used. An Apollo External Interface running at 192k is used for playback. Masters are exported in 24-bit dithered WAV format. A hardware rack is used for a Hybrid Master approach, which includes Rockville EQs, AC1 based Compressors, Tube-emulated shapers, Schaack Transient shapers, and a custom power conditioning unit. Final Master playback is done in studio and general listener quality check is done across commonly used devices such as Apple Airpods and Tiny Speakers. A 10′ sub coupled via crossover is also used for Final Master Referencing. True peak and DBFS/RMS/LUFS levels are checked before export for industry-standard and streaming site preferred LUFS ranges.
